Lead RF Engineer

We are currently working with an industry leading Satellite Communications Company based in London. They are looking to expand their workforce by bringing in a Lead RF Engineer. 

The main focus of this position is to serve as the technical leader for the hardware team responsible for advancing the Aero platform. Your responsibilities include planning, conceptualizing, validating, overseeing, and finalizing board-level designs and sub-assemblies for products related to the Phased Array Antenna range.

You will take charge of complex mixed-signal RF, power, and embedded designs, leading them from the initial stages of requirement validation and architectural design to hardware specification, schematic creation, PCB layout, system integration, and verification.

Additionally, as the Lead RF Engineer, you'll contribute to broader technical tasks necessary for product development, encompassing aspects like lifecycle management, peer evaluations, procuring test equipment, and conducting lab tests.

Effective collaboration with various teams, such as hardware, ASIC, software, systems, mechanical, and operations, will be crucial to ensure successful support for development projects.

You will be responsible for organizing and conducting hardware design reviews in coordination with other engineering units to ensure comprehensive requirement capture and the achievement of accurate initial designs.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills for this position as a Lead RF Engineer:

  • You should hold a strong first-class or upper second-class degree (BEng/MEng) in Electronic/Electrical Engineering from a reputable university.
  • You must possess experience in delivering technically complex products in sectors such as data communications, aerospace, or automotive. Design and previous Leadership experience is require for this role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, technical leadership, and team management is required. A solid understanding of structured phased-gate product development processes is expected.
  • A comprehensive grasp of the entire product development process, preferably in high-reliability sectors like aerospace, defense, land, or marine products, is important.
  • You should have a robust background in embedded system design or high-frequency RF mixed signal technology. This should cover all stages from conceptualization and specification to design, systems testing, integration, and manufacturing.
  • Experience in designing complex high-speed multi-layer PCBs, managing stackup constraints, and controlled impedance designs is essential. Proficiency in high-speed design techniques is assumed.
  • Familiarity with schematic capture tools like Altium Designer (essential) and industry-standard tools for SI simulations (e.g., ADS, HyperLynx, HFSS, LTSPice) is expected.
