Principal Analog Engineer

Pay Range: $125k to $157k depending on level of experience

The Role

As the Principal Analog Electrical Engineer, you’ll be designing, developing, and testing electronics, lasers and flow systems for particle counting instrumentation. You will be working on new product development and helping with sustaining issues when required. You will be using and developing a broad range of electronic engineering skills that include low noise photo detector circuits, laser controls, opto-electronics and flow systems. For new product design, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary project team helping to create the next generation of particle counters and overcoming challenges at the physical limit of opto-mechanical and electronic sensing technologies.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Developing and sustaining industry leading high sensitivity / low noise detection


and stable laser systems for particle counting instruments

  • Working with multi-disciplinary project teams that include mechanical and firmware


engineers as well as supply chain, production engineers, service technicians and

product line managers

  • Working with analog front-end electronics, lasers, and pressure regulated airflow


systems.

  • Designing, developing, and testing design concepts
  • Troubleshooting electronics
  • Honing your existing expertise and expanding your capabilities by developing new


skills over a broad range of electrical design technologies

  • Writing design documentation, test reports and other technical documents when


appropriate

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering is highly desired
  • At least fifteen years of analog opto-electronics circuit design experience
  • Proficiency with schematic capture
  • Experience with lasers, and opto-electronics
  • Experience with industry photo-detectors including PIN diodes, PMT, APD, and


SiAPD

  • Experience with low noise transimpedance amplifiers, and high sensitivity


detection

  • Experience using analog circuit simulators such as SPICE
  • Understanding of the art of analog layout design
  • The ability to use standard electronic test equipment such as DVMs, oscilloscopes


and function generators to test and troubleshoot boards

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports, summarize data and create technical


documents

  • Effective coaching and mentoring skills for early career electrical engineers and


technicians

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior design experience with aerosol particle counting designs
  • Experience with Mentor xDx Designer
  • Experience with low noise analog amplifier designs including stability and noise


analysis

  • Small signal analysis and design of single and multistage differential amplifiers
  • Understanding of techniques to perform analog and mixed signal circuit


simulations

  • Design experience using CMOS imagers, understanding camera specifications


and frame capture

  • Understanding of aerosol physics
