R-10051240 Radar System and Application Design Lead (f/m/d)

Within the Business Line Radio Frequency Processing (BL RFP) and as part of our NXP’s Center of Excellence for Radar Systems, we are looking for an experienced Radar System and Application Design Lead to join our System & Applications team in Munich, Germany. Primary responsibility is the HW/PCB development for customer enablement and for the validation of our next generation radar IC’s.

Work Areas

  • Own the PCB development phases for validation boards, customer application boards and Eval-Kits, incl. requirements collection and alignment with stakeholders, design files development (schematics, layout, BOM), technical reviews, and bring up.
  • Own and co-develop PCB bring up test cases and factory acceptance tests
  • Perform PCB qualification measurements, and debug boards during the bring up (root causes analysis and corrective actions)
  • Support project management and the HW change control board by providing work package break downs, effort estimates and technical reasoning for task prioritization
  • Support evaluation, selection and qualification of contractual manufacturer incl. assessment of manufacturer process abilities and tolerances
  • Own HW/PCB development processes, methods and tools (PMT), and ensure their implementation in projects, e. g. rule check principles, parts libraries maintenance, document releases, lessons learned
  • Maintain and improve working documents (checklists, report templates) and knowledge exchange platforms (Internal Wiki)
  • Guide HW development team to ensure the delivery of high-quality work products, on time
  • Support meeting NXP quality management guidelines and requirements in HW/PCB development


Required Education & Experience

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience in development of RF/mmWave circuit boards
  • Practical experience with setup and configuration of lab measurement instrumentation
  • Profound knowledge in HW/PCB design methods and tools, and PCB manufacturing processes
  • Experience with RF/mmWave PCB design techniques (microstrip, SIW, vias,…)
  • Practical experience in PCB bring up and troubleshooting
  • Basic understanding of analog and digital hardware elements and functional blocks
  • Knowledge in automotive functional safety (ISO 26262) is a plus
  • Background in electromagnetics design domain is a plus

  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across organizational and geographical boundaries
  • Good verbal and written communication/presentation skills in English. Good listener
  • Team spirit, willingness to share knowledge and ability to interact internally and externally
